Hanya Tinggal Kenangan
Hanya Tinggal Kenangan visualises an excavation of contemporary culture in our fast-paced present.
The installation delves into the impending revamp of Bugis Village Shopping Street. For many growing up in Singapore during the 2000s, the shopping street was a place of youthful experimentations, contributing to a testament of younger self/selves that once existed. Confined in these translucent boxes are a wide array of objects from the site.
While they may seem commonplace, their value for preservation is in the memories they symbolise. In this act of gathering them all together, Hanya Tinggal Kenangan is an ongoing work that maps out physical erasures while negotiating ways of remembering their narratives.
