NEO_ARTEFACTS is an experimental initiative by Fazleen Karlan that looks into the intersection between art and archaeology.

NEO_ARTEFACTS seeks to  reassemble fragments of material from different timeframes, constructing personal and cultural realities. Growing up as a millennial, the works conflate a variety of influences including the rise of the Internet and its material culture. NEO_ARTEFACTS has presented in several group exhibitions in Singapore and was an Artist-in-Residence with NTU Centre for Contemporary Art between April - August 2022.

creation_myth2.0

creation_myth2.0 draws from ancient stories of how humankind began and the rise of Web 2.0. Narratives across different countries, cultures and spiritualities trace back the roots of humanity. A common element that runs through these myths is the creation of human beings from clay. In another vein, Web 2.0 marked a substantial shift in how we use the Internet.

Migrating away from static web pages to a more participatory experience, we continuously construct virtual universes and multiple identities. The Internet knows who we are, where we belong, and where we are going. But when we are no longer here, what fragments will remain?
