[Another Space: Beta Test]
media_archaeology is an ongoing exercise in archiving and rearranging digital debris.
It delves into found images and audio-visual material culture in their historical context, examining the elements that impacted their formation and repurposing. It also uncovers how the media has responded to current concerns and trends, offering clues into the cultural milieu in which they are transmitted.
The growth of media has
played a significant role in the formation and development of Internet culture. Engagement, accessibility of publishing, and lightning-speed dissemination of data and audio-visual material were made possible by the Internet. Specifically, meme became prevalent due to their relatability, influencing online culture and comedy. Presently, media has expanded and transformed in response to the introduction of social networking sites and technology, and it remains an essential component of the virtual realm.
︎ Exhibition ︎ Another Space: Beta Test
Another Space is an informal series of short-form presentations located at Another Department (@anotherdepartment), working around the space’s day-to-day use as a
commercial photography studio. In response to the inherent ‘placelessness’ of the studio
photoshoot, each presentation will be loosely framed by a typology of space.
The first iteration of the series, Another Space: Beta Test is named for the stage of testing a software or application before its release to a wider audience. Unfolding over a
single afternoon, contributions from five artists/designers explore virtual environments and interfaces that echo real world architectures, experiences, and socialities.
